Booking FAQ
How do I know you aren't a robot?
I'm not a robot. I promise.
Ha, that's EXACTLY what a robot would say!
Okay, fine, checkout my videos. If you still think I'm an AI, we can schedule a video call before you commit to hiring me.
You've got lots of job types on here, but no prices. What gives?
Yeah, I know, it's annoying. The thing is, every job and every client is different. Once we hammer out the details, I can provide you with an accurate quote.
But I'm a numbers guy! Gimme numbers!
Here ya go: One! One number! Two! Two numbers! Ha ha ha!
But seriously, check out:

My project doesn't fit what I see here. Can you do it?
Probably. This page is just to give you an idea of what I can do, it isn't comprehensive. I tried to include everything, but I'm only human (I still promise).
Can I hear a sample before I commit?
Absolutely! But please understand that any samples will be subject to certain safeguards to prevent their becoming an unpaid project.
Safeguards? Like what?
They are short, often incomplete sections, rendered at a lower quality.
What about revisions?
It depends on the project. Fixing mistakes is always included. Usually, I include 2 rounds of revisions for tone/style adjustments to a limited amount of the project, but re-recording for a client rewrite generally requires an additional fee.
DO you do live directed sessions?
Yes, indeed! Sessions can be booked in one hour increments from 10 AM until 8 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday. Accommodations outside the normal scheduled window can be made, if need be.
Can I ask for rush services?
Sure. It will cost more, though.
Couldn't I hire a robot? Isn't it cheaper?
You could, but I don't know that it's actually cheaper. It's a question of what value you ascribe to things. If you want to churn out low quality filler content, you can use AI, but more and more platforms are banning that sort of thing., at which point, you'd need to start over with a real person anyway. If you want good content, good luck getting an AI to understand how to take direction, or better yet, make a performance choice that SURPRISES you. You can waste so much of your time refining a prompt to get the result you want, it more than overtakes what money you might have saved by using AI.
Okay, fine. No robots. But I don't trust you.
I get it. I want to, but I'm not sure I can trust you, either.
Well, what now?
For new clients, once we have agreed on the particulars of a project, a payment plan is set up, based on certain production milestones. The most I've ever broken up payment is into 4 parts, but I'm happy to work with you to find a solution you're comfortable with.
Eh, I don't know. I'm just not comfortable with hiring you directly. Is there Another way?
There are lots of other ways. For an audiobook, you can send me a contract through ACX, or post it on Author's Republic and I'll send you a proposal with the terms we've agreed to. For other projects, you can find me on Voices.com, fiverr, upwork, voquent, ahab, bunnystudios, castigncallclub, and others. Plus, you can always hire me through my local agency. If you want to go that way, message me and I'll send you the contact info.
Do you accept royalty share contracts?
Yes, but not often. I usually restrict these to authors with an established audience and a track record of decent sales. I will consider most RS+ contracts.
Is there any content you won't record?
Sure, lots. I don't do material I find gratuitously violent, hateful, or exploitative, and I don't record certain political ads that go against my ideology. I also don't go for projects where the main voice is a character I could never be considered for an on camera live action version of. I don't audition for projects where the main character is a woman, black, has "Chinese accent," etc. Those jobs should go to someone else, anyway. I will, of course, record projects in which I voice characters of all ages, genders, and races because I'm in favor of diverse characters in literature, but if your main character is, for example, a 25 year old black woman from Baton Rouge, you need to hire someone else.
Do you offer a bulk discount?
Umm, kinda? Longer projects tend to cost less per word or per finished minute/hour, just because everything only needs to be set up once. The same goes for multiple projects with the same style, tone, or character voice(s), like narrating a series of videos for a youtube channel, voicing an ongoing advertising campaign, or recording a series of books.
I still have unanswered questions.
Boy, don't we all. If you send them to me at lfgillett@gmail.com, I'll do my best to get you answers.
Types of Bookable Jobs
Commercials
This is any off screen voice for any online, streamed, or broadcast advertisement, including announcers, characters, testimonials, disclaimers, and mascots.
E-Learning/Corporate/Industial
The voiceover for an online instructional video, training module, compliance video, etc.
Audiobooks
I offer services from providing raw recordings, to half of dual narration, to fully edited and mastered production, ranging from simple narration, to books with dozens of unique character voices. Be sure to checkout the Audiobooks Page for samples of my previous work. I am available for PFH titles, RS+ titles, and will consider RS for the right project.
Animation & Videogames
I can provide a wide range of character voices, from gritty and realistic, to wacky and wild. I'm always up for a new challenge!
Character Voice Doubling & Celebrity Impressions
I can do the voices of many cartoon characters, as well as impressions of numerous celebrities. Please bear in mind, there are limitations on this type of thing. Parody is fair use, but it must be explicit, in that, an impression cannot be passed off as the actual person/character officially endorsing something. For example, you can't use my version of the voice of a cartoon moose to sell cheeseburgers without getting sued.
Dubbing
This lets me put both my creative and my technical skills to use revoicing performances originally in another language. I can record and time sync my performance with your source video, and even voice multiple characters!
IVR/Phone Systems
Thank you for calling the IVR description box! Please listen closely as our menu options have changed. For English, press one. Para español, presione dos.
Live Event/Hype Videos
Do you need a voice to get everyone at a sporting event on their feet? Maybe you need a voice to ask everyone to take their seats, as the presentation is about to begin? I know! You need a voice to announce the next train station and to ask passengers to "please stand clear of the moving doors! Regardless, I'm your guy!
Podcasts
From a simple introduction, character voices, or recording full episodes, I can accommodate all your podcasting needs.
